Granted – The Jazz Jousters salute Grant Green

The Jazz Jousters returned with their seventh installment titled Granted, off their Lab Off Sessions collection on August 26, 2012, which pays tribute to Grant Green and his 1961 single “My Funny Valentine.”

Grant Green was an American jazz guitarist and composer born in St. Louis, Missouri and was most notably known for almost exclusively recording for Blue Note Records, as both a leader and a sideman, and having been involved in over 90 musical projects during his 19 years as a musicians. In his short career, he collaborated with other jazz greats like Sonny Red, Bobby Hutcherson, Herbie Hancock, and Donald Byrd to name a few. He passed away at the age of 43 after suffering a heart attack in his car in New York City on January 31, 1979.
